The Southern Area Health Education Center (SoAHEC) is pleased to have received a contract from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office on Women’s Health to operate a National Rural/Frontier Women’s Health Coordinating Center (RFCC). There are 11 RFCCs in the nation and they are partnered with National Centers of Excellence and National Community Centers of Excellence. These are innovative programs in women’s health that emphasize cutting edge research and health care models that are geared to developing “best practices” for women’s wellness and health care.

Rural/Frontier Women’s Health Coordinating Centers are designed to work with existing providers to improve available services for women while, at the same time, identifying and minimizing existing barriers to health care. Many of the RFCC’s objectives will be met by connecting women to health education programs that promote self-efficacy and illness prevention as well as assisting women to link to more comprehensive care facilities.

The SoAHEC RFCC offers many services for community women, health care and social service providers.
